Public consultation for evidence on PFAS restriction

Public consultation for evidence on PFAS restriction

vendredi 5 juin 2020

On May 11, 2020, the competent authorities for REACH of five European countries launched a public call regarding a restriction proposal on the use of per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS).

Authorities from Germany, the Netherlands, Norway, Sweden, and Denmark have agreed to prepare a joint restriction proposal under the REACH regulation to deal with the risk to the environment and human health associated with a wide range of PFAS.

This consultation - open until 31 July 2020 - intends to provide data and knowledge related to PFAS and their use in order to establish the scope of the restriction proposal. It targets in particular companies that produce or use PFAS, sell mixtures or products containing PFAS, or produce alternatives to PFAS. Stakeholders from across the entire supply chain are also invited to participate, as well as scientists and non-governmental organizations.

The substances concerned by the present consultation are substances that contain at least one aliphatic -CF2- or -CF3 element.

A non-exhaustive list of such substances is provided in the supplemental document associated to the consultation (https://www.reach-clp-biozid-helpdesk.de/media/Helpdesk/download/Supplementary-Document-to-CfE.docx).

The online questionnaire can be accessed via the German REACH/CLP helpdesk : . https://www.reach-clp-biozid-helpdesk.de/DE/REACH/Verfahren/SVHC-Verfahren/Stoffliste-EN/Stoffliste-EN.html
